Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, Fort Bragg, California
This 47 acre botanical garden is a real gem. The dahlias are in bloom in late summer. Rhododendrons do well on the northern California coast and are a major attraction in the spring.
Diffuse lighting is good for extreme closeups of flowers as it allows seeing into the shadows. Another advantage of extreme closeups is that it gets rid of the distracting background. This shot was hand held.
